How Some Digital Pianos Are Simply 'Grand'!
Pianos as we know them today, with their steel frames and large casings, came into being in the 19th century. These pianos grew out of Forte Pianos from what is identified as the Classical Period (mid 1700s to early 1800s) which in turn had grown out of harpsichords from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The 20th century introduced changes, not so much in the conventional piano itself, but in the emulation and replication of its sound and feel in more technologically advanced instruments. From this technology came the digital keyboard.
Digital pianos have come a long way since their start and with instruments such as the Korg SP170 and Yamaha NPV80 they have come to realistically represent a more traditional piano. Certain improvements in the technological realm makes it possible for these instruments to truly emulate the precise touch and feel the keys of the acoustic instrument. As a result the player of the digital keyboard has a broad range of dynamics and expressive qualities at hand (literally) to execute what ever he or she desires to express. They get all of the traditional characteristics of the acoustic without breaking the bank or their backs. The digital pianos, as noted in a recent Korg SP170 review, are transportable and because of their light weight can be transported with ease to wherever the player needs to practice or perform.
On top of the exceptional sound these digital instruments produce, they regularly have features that allows the musician to use other technology and even record themselves. The Korg SP170 88-Key Digital Piano for example has a device that enables the player to record whatever he or she is playing. This is perfect for getting pieces just right by listening back and being able to correct the necessary parts. It also is good for recording ideas and bursts of creativity whenever they happen. Or say you want to send a recording of a track you just wrote to a friend or colleague. Just plug in your computer and send away.
It's a bit of an understatement to say that the piano has certainly transformed over the years.
