Get a Good Guitar and It Will Play Itself
I'm a keen amateur guitarist having played for well over thirty years. Since the early nineties I've gotten into music production using computers but my real love is the guitar.
As a keen guitarist I have a growing collection of guitars both old and new. My favourite is a genuine 1931 National Triolian that has clearly been well played in its near eighty years of life. This old guitar has clearly been well played with deep grooves worn into the fretboard and all the paint chipped from the body. But all I need to do is strum a chord and slide up the neck with my bottleneck and I am in the Delta with Robert Johnson looking over my shoulder.
An instrument like this was way out of my price range when I was first learning to play. Back in those days I used to dream of owning a real Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul. Then Japanese manufacturers Tokai and Squier started to produce guitars. These guitars were affordably priced copies of popular Fenders and Gibsons. I bought myself a nice black Squier Telecaster that was just brilliant to play. A guitar playing friend once told me that a good guitar can nearly play itself and this is almost true.
It was my Squier Telecaster that served me well when I used to play in various blues bands. Then I managed to save enough to buy a genuine Fender Stratocaster. But, to be totally honest, I preferred my old Squier telecaster which I'd sold to a friend.
Not many young people who are starting to learn the guitar have the cash to spend on top of the range models. These days there are some excellent alternatives that are equally as good as the classic guitars that they are based upon. There are manufacturers, like Epiphone and Squier, who make some great guitars that play really well, sound great and don't cost a fortune.
For anyone looking for a first guitar I strongly recommend that you get the best that you can afford. There are many guitar stores that offer sometimes unbelievable deals so look out for these. Always look at a few second hand guitars as these can often be setup really well but cost you only a fraction of what a new one would cost. Always shop around and maybe take a guitar playing friend along when you go to check out a guitar. And its really worth remembering that a good guitar really can inspire you to play more and make playing much more enjoyable.

Frequently Asked Questions...
What do you know about making electronic music?
I want to start making electronic music. What is your best suggestion so I don't give up two weeks from now. Would a program like Reason or Fruity Loops be my best bet? Thanks for any advise!
Answer:
I like FL Studio best, I've been using the Producer Edition for some years now. Great for doing electronic music, especially since you can get many new sounds with (free) VST instruments and samples.
But, both programs have a demo so you should see what you like best yourself.
In case you end up getting FL Studio, you can get 10% discount on your first order from image-line with this promo link for new customers: https://support.image-line.com/jshop/shop.php?offer=Default&promo=BACJBAA468
Good luck!
