The Best Way To Change To Change Color With Digital Images To Black And White
Many photographers learned their trade using film, where filters were used to enhance black and white photos, then manipulated again within the darkroom process. This technique was used for many years since the was the basic of types photography, the black and while photos were created from the negatives anfd then they were converted to color which inturn was color transparencies.
Now through the digital photography process photographers can enhance their color images, turning them into brilliant black and white images in one tenth the time while obtaining image quality that exceeds the black and white filtration and darkroom process.
As a general rule RGB (always use RGB never sRGB if possible) images are converted to a ratio of approximately 30:60:10. This is equivalent to 10 percent of the value being blue, 60 percent from green, and 30 percent from red. The weight of the RGB channels are broken down to black and white using complicated image processing techniques. The algorithm for this conversion is so efficient that the difference cannot be identified even in the eyes of a expert.
The green component in the black and white converted photos will be brighter and the blue component will become the darkest. The conversion to grey scale does not mean that all the colored parts are converted to grey.
You cannot expect that the ratio given above will meet all kinds of conversion but this can be sufficient in most cases A good example is red, a receding color generating foreshortening in an image, can be brightened to uphold contrast in a black & white image by changing the ratio, or weighting that favors the red channel, over say, a downplay on a green background channel.
One way to accomplish the change in ratio, or weighting of the pixel component, is by the use of the Channel Mixer. Most of the photo process software available in the market has facilities for this conversion alternatively you can download free software that equals the quality. Monochrome images can also be created by adjusting the color components to maximum range.
This will alter the overall exposure of the image as well, bringing the image into appropriate contrast and brightness ratios without further adjustment. With some conversion tools it is also possible to alter the balance of yellow, magenta, and cyan conversions (photo darkroom basics) for an even greater range of effects in black and white.
Toning is taking the black & white image and making it a one-color tone. This conversion is done on the cyan blue, yellow green, or gold toned images or the sepia tones. Other colors are available for toning in digital and the creative spirit the only limitation to what those may be.
Toning an image is converting from color to black & white within the RGB mode, and must be completed before toning.Reducing contrast while you brighten the shadow detail will effectively build the image into an acceptable tone gradation while obtaining better quality. Black most often remains dark and even blacker when a digital image is toned. If there is detail within the darker or black portion of the image then a brightener tool adjustment made to bring the detail out is done, before the tone process.

dj mixer 2 channel...?
i have a 2 channel mixer that is awesome.. i don't want to have 2 change it because im so used 2 it it feels perfect to use.. now i want to start using my laptop along with the 2 cd decks that i have but of course need a another line... i was wondering if i were to connect the wires of laptop and say deck 2 so they both go into one channel and flick between using all 3 at a time would that work? or will i jest have 2 buy a new mixer n start getting used 2 that all over again...
i think it would be possible.. any advice appreciated.

I would buy another mixer. Look for a small line mixer like a Behringer Xenyx 802. That way you could use your 2 channel mixer for your first two channels. And use the Behringer for the third channel. Run the outputs from your two channel into channels one and two on the Behringer. use channels three and four on the Behringer for your third channel. You need two channels for both. One for left and one for right. Using your mic input may cause distortion and will not be stereo.
