Taking IELTS reading test
Almost every country in the world recognizes the importance of English. In most companies it is required that top executives possess some understanding of the language. In most English speaking nations, foreigners are required to provide evidence testifying to their understanding of English. As such many people are asked to undergo English assessment tests.
Although there are many tests that can be taken, by far the most important of these is the IELT-International English Language Testing System.
Countries such as South Africa, Australia, Britain, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand are just some of the many nations that recognize the results of the IELTS. The IELTS is an accepted standard in the US with more than 2,000 institutions recognizing it's results. It is also widely accepted by countless professional organizations.
There are a number of steps involved in the IELTS. Identifying all of these will allow you prepare on the areas which you might be less than ready for. The IELTS test does not just test your skill at writing. You are also tested on your ability to listen, read and speak in English as well. Each of these four areas are tested and scored based on performance on a 0 to 9 scale. While the listening and speaking modules are similar for all tests, the reading and writing will differ depending on which IELTS version you are aiming for-i.e. the academic or general version.
Like most tests the secret to achieving an excellent score lies in your ability to listen and follow instructions as much as it does your ability to effectively communicate in English. The listening module for example is comprised of a 40 minutes session in which 30 of those minute are spent listening to a recording. You will then be tested based on what you heard during this period. With the writing module you will be expected to answer questions clearly within the provided margin or limit. If you have been asked to answer a sentence in 3 words, you answer should be exactly that. Exceeding or dropping lower, however grand your penned eloquence might be, will be counted as a negative against you.
Attention is paid to small details like spelling and grammar construct and so you should pay as much attention to these as possible.
